National Music Exams through KITS
Learning Allegro is proud to partner with the Keynote Independent Theory Service to offer a music theory curriculum that teaches Reading, Vocabulary, Listening and Playing to give students a well-rounded music theory education. READING skills progress from note reading to harmonic analysis, scales, triads, rhythmic notation and transposition. VOCABULARY begins with recognition of basic signs, moving on to the gradual accumulation of Italian and other terms as they become relevant. LISTENING covers aural recognition of intervals, chords, scales and rhythmic patterns. The PLAYING skills involve scales and cadences, increasing in difficulty from Steps 1 through 6.
Students in second grade through high school are encouraged to add these theory classes as part of their music education and compete in the annual Music Exams. High scoring students are eligible to be listed on the NATIONAL MUSIC THEORY HONOR ROLL. The Honor Roll also awards a 5-year medal and a 7-step trophy to qualifying students.
